About

Pravithanam St. Augustine’s Forane Church, part of the Eparchy of Pala, located in the heart of Meenachil Taluk in Pala, is one of the  most historically significant churches in the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. Established in the 17th century, it stands as a testament to the rich Christian heritage of Kerala.

Dedicated to St. Augustine, the church has played a pivotal role in nurturing the spiritual and social life of generations. As a mother parish to many neighboring parishes, it was elevated to the status of a Forane Church in 2016. The parish continues to be a beacon of faith, community, and tradition.

The church is not only a place of worship but also a centre of culture and education, having established some of the earliest schools and religious institutions in the region. Today, it remains as vital spiritual hub, drawing countless faithful from across Kerala and beyond.
